Whoever <strong>sows to please <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their<\/span> flesh<\/strong>, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever <strong>sows to please <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the<\/span> Spirit<\/strong>, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.\u00a0\u00a0 (Galatians 6:7-8)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Literally:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Whoever <strong>sows into their flesh<\/strong>,\u00a0from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever <strong>sows into the Spirit<\/strong>, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sowing:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Sowing is a form of entrusting.<br \/>\nThe farmer who puts seeds into his land entrusts his seeds to the ground, expecting to reap many times more than he sows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If the seeds are of good quality, the yield of the harvest will be determined by the quality of the ground to which the seeds are entrusted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Whoever sows into their flesh will reap destruction.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In the Bible, <strong>\u2018flesh\u2019<\/strong> represents the soul that is oriented towards the visible world and its own desires.<br \/>\n<strong>\u2018Sowing into their flesh\u2019<\/strong> means roughly: wanting to realise the desires of the heart, the soul, according to one\u2019s own insight, according to the norms of the world.<\/p>\n<p>The desires of the heart may be qualitatively high-grade seeds, possibly inspired by the Holy Spirit.<br \/>\nHowever, a disciple who \u2018sows into his flesh\u2019 with these desires will reap what he himself and the world produce.<br \/>\nThis produce cannot endure the norm of God\u2019s Kingdom and is worthless in the light of eternity.<\/p>\n<p>Whoever sows into <strong>their flesh<\/strong> will reap destruction (liquidation, devastation according to the translation of the <a title=\"Online Bijbel\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/online-bijbel\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">OLB<\/span><\/a>).<br \/>\nThink in this respect of the third servant in the parable of the bags of gold.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">From the parable of the bags of gold\u00a0&#8211; Matthew 25:14-30.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>The third servant<\/strong> who settles his bill with his master in this parable had difficulty with the fact that he had to hand over the produce of his work to his master.<br \/>\nHe did nothing with the bag of gold he had received. He hid it in the ground and went on his own way in life.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that this servant hid his \u2018bag of gold\u2019 in the ground, can also be seen as <strong>sowing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the study about <a title=\"Matthew 25:14-30 \u2013 The parable of the gabs of gold\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/matthew-2514-30-parable-gabs-gold\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the parable of the bags of gold<\/span><\/a> it is explained that the \u2018bag&#8217; in this parable is an image of the Holy Spirit, who pours out the divine love into a disciple\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n<p>It seems strange that a disciple is able to \u2018sow\u2019 this love from God \u2018into his flesh\u2019, in order to reap the yield for himself.<br \/>\nIt nevertheless appears to be possible to exercise a spiritual ministry and to receive the working of the Holy Spirit in one\u2019s own honour.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Not everyone who says to me, \u2018Lord, Lord,\u2019 will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only <strong>the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven<\/strong>.<br \/>\nMany will say to me on that day, \u2018Lord, Lord, did we not <strong>prophesy<\/strong> in your name and in your name <strong>drive out demons<\/strong> and in your name perform <strong>many miracles<\/strong>?\u2019<br \/>\nThen I will tell them plainly, \u2018<strong>I never knew you<\/strong>. Away from me, you <strong>evildoers<\/strong>!\u2019\u00a0\u00a0 (Matthew 7:21-23)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The disciples in the above-mentioned parable have prophesied in the Name of Jesus, driven out evil spirits and performed many miracles.<br \/>\nThey had <strong>a great spiritual ministry<\/strong> and were even a blessing to many.<br \/>\nNevertheless, Jesus said to them: <strong>I never knew you<\/strong> and He called them <strong>evildoers<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<strong>It says literally<\/strong>: I never made your acquaintance, <strong>working without law<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the work that the Holy Spirit did through them these people were living for themselves.<br \/>\nThey were doing what they did in order to \u2018reap\u2019 the fruits of their ministry for themselves and they were not living on the basis of the law of love.<br \/>\nAs a result they had no relationship with Jesus and they were unknown to Him.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>\u2018wage\u2019<\/strong> that they received, was <strong>honour from people<\/strong>, but they had no wage from God.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Whoever sows into the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u2018Sowing into the Spirit\u2019<\/strong> applies to a disciple who trusts in the Holy Spirit, who has come to dwell in the heart with the divine love.<br \/>\nThis is a disciple who is living in a relationship with, and in obedience to Jesus, trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit.<br \/>\nHis life will be a testimony to the Name of Jesus.<br \/>\nAs a result, through his ministry, love is raised up in the heart of the people he meets.<br \/>\nWhoever \u2018sows\u2019 the divine life \u2018into\u2019 in this manner, through the Holy Spirit, will experience the fruit of the Spirit in his life and <strong>reap eternal life from the Spirit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Let us not <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">become weary<\/span> (literally: lose courage) in doing good, for at the proper time we will <strong>reap a harvest<\/strong> if we do not <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">give up<\/span> (literally: despair).
