Encouragement is usually given to use one\u2019s gifts and talents in church.<br \/>\nWhether \u2018talents\u2019 or \u2018gifts of the Spirit\u2019 are then meant by \u2018gifts\u2019 is often not very clear.<\/p>\n<p>In order to prevent confusion and incorrect interpretation of The School of Life\u2019s studies these concepts are described below.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Talents.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Talents are regarded by The School of Life as <strong>the natural skills<\/strong> that each human being was given when he or she was conceived.<br \/>\nThese are natural aptitudes, each person\u2019s strong sides.<\/p>\n<p>Natural skills need to be practised however, if they are to grow to full bloom.<br \/>\nIt is possible to ignore talents or not to develop them. That is unfortunate, because the person does not then achieve his or her full potential in the area which he is \u2018good\u2019 at by nature.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The gifts of the Spirit.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u2018The gifts of the Spirit\u2019<\/strong> is an expression that is generally used in the Christian world to refer to what are called <strong>\u2018charisma\u2019<\/strong> in Greek and is translated by <strong>\u2018spiritual gifts\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The expression <strong>\u2018gifts <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">of<\/span> the Spirit\u2019<\/strong> does not appear in the New Testament however and will therefore not be used in The School of Life\u2019s studies.<\/p>\n<p>In connection with the Holy Spirit the Bible speaks of <strong>\u2018spiritual gifts <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">through<\/span> the Holy Spirit\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This is extensively discussed in the study about <a title=\"Spiritual Gifts \u2013 definition\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/spiritual-gifts-definition\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2018Spiritual Gifts\u2019<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Print this study as a PDF document:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Description-of-the-concepts-of-gifts-and-talents.pdf\">Description of the concepts of gifts and talents.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Talents\u2019 and \u2018gifts\u2019 are usually also mentioned in literature and preaching about the subject \u2018the gifts of the Spirit\u2019.
