{"id":501,"date":"2014-05-13T14:18:19","date_gmt":"2014-05-13T13:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/?p=501"},"modified":"2014-06-13T08:42:06","modified_gmt":"2014-06-13T07:42:06","slug":"god-created-mankind-adam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/delevensschool.org\/en\/god-created-mankind-adam\/","title":{"rendered":"God created mankind &#8211; Adam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"God created heaven\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/god-created-heaven\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How God created heaven<\/span><\/a> and <a title=\"God created the earth\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/god-created-earth\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">earth<\/span> <\/a>was discussed in the two previous studies.<\/p>\n<p>During the sixth day of creation God said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Let <strong>us make<\/strong> mankind in <strong>our<\/strong> image, in <strong>our<\/strong> likeness\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 (Genesis 1:26)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>God speaks here in the plural form<strong> \u2018us\u2019<\/strong>, i.e. He speaks here as the triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Until now everything was created from nothing, by the power of the spoken Word of God.<br \/>\nGod said (also translatable as: gave the order): <strong><em>Let there be<\/em><\/strong> light \u2026, <strong>let there be<\/strong> a vault \u2026, <strong>Let the land produce<\/strong> living creatures (also: bring forth, deliver) \u2026 etc. \u2026 and it was so.<\/p>\n<p>God gave no order when He resolved to make man, but acted Himself.<br \/>\nHe said: <em>Let us <strong>make<\/strong> mankind.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>make\u00a0<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0 also to be understood as: to form, to bring into existence, to bring forth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>God also indicated <strong>how<\/strong> He was to make mankind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>in His image<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; also: likeness &#8211; picture.<br \/>\n&#8211; that is:\u00a0 man\u2019s outward appearance, a body.<\/li>\n<li>In His likeness\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 also: looking like &#8211; resembling.<br \/>\n&#8211; that is:\u00a0 man\u2019s character, spiritual, intellectual.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How God made mankind is described in the second chapter of Genesis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u2026 Then the LORD God <strong>formed<\/strong> (also translated as: <strong>potter<\/strong> (1 Chronicles 4:23), <strong>brought to pass<\/strong> (2 Kings 19:25), <strong>made<\/strong> (Isaiah 29:16)) a man<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>From the dust of the ground<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;<\/li>\n<li>and <strong>the man became a living being.\u00a0 (living soul).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> (Genesis 2:7)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just a comment: There is an <a title=\"Genesis 2:7 \u2013 Play upon words Man-Adam-dyed red\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/genesis-27-play-upon-words-man-adam-dyed-red\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">interesting play on words<\/span><\/a> in Hebrew for \u2018mankind\u2019, for \u2018man\u2019, the first man, \u2018Adam\u2019 and \u2018dyed red\u2019, which is explained in a separate document.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">God formed the physical man.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Then God said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cLet us make mankind <strong>in our image<\/strong>, \u2026\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 (Genesis 1:26)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u2026 Then the LORD God formed a man <strong>from the dust of the ground<\/strong> \u2026\u00a0\u00a0 (Genesis 2:7)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/4.-Lichaam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-263\" alt=\"4. Lichaam\" src=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/4.-Lichaam.jpg\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/delevensschool.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/4.-Lichaam.jpg 576w, https:\/\/delevensschool.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/4.-Lichaam-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After God had said what He was intending to do, He moulded an image from \u2018the dust of the ground\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That moulded \u2018image\u2019 was man\u2019s future body, the first man, Adam.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Who God is was already perceptible in that image, for that image was formed \u2018in His image\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Legs and feet<\/strong>, to be mobile and to be able to move around.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Arms and hands<\/strong>, to depict something, to make something, to embrace someone, or to take him by the hand and lead him.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ears<\/strong> to hear.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eyes<\/strong> to see.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>nose<\/strong> to smell and a <strong>mouth<\/strong> to speak.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, everything was still lifeless and was not yet functioning \u2026.. it was just an image.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">God formed the spiritual man.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Then God said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cLet us make mankind<strong> in our image<\/strong>, \u2026\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 (Genesis 1:26)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u2026 Then the LORD God formed a man \u2026 and <strong>breathed into his nostrils the breath of life<\/strong> \u2026\u00a0\u00a0 (Genesis 2:7)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After God had moulded a body, He breathed<strong> His breath of life <\/strong>into its nostrils \u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u2026 and <strong>the man became a living being\u00a0 (Hebrew: a living <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">soul<\/span>).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> (Genesis 2:7)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/5.-Geest-ziel-lichaam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-264\" alt=\"5. Geest ziel lichaam\" src=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/5.-Geest-ziel-lichaam.jpg\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/delevensschool.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/5.-Geest-ziel-lichaam.jpg 576w, https:\/\/delevensschool.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/5.-Geest-ziel-lichaam-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the moment God breathed the breath of life into its nostrils, the image came to life and it became a body of flesh and blood.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More!<br \/>\nGod is Spirit. At the moment He breathed the breath of life into the image\u2019s nostrils, it became a living body, because He had breathed a soul and a spirit into it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Soul and spirit are divine and they belong to the spiritual world, which is eternal.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8230; <strong>and the man <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">became<\/span> a living being<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 (Genesis 2:7)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus confirmed this, when He said: <strong>The Spirit (of God) gives life,<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 (John 6:63)<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Man is a soul.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Man <strong>did not receive<\/strong> a soul.<br \/>\nMan <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>BECAME<\/strong> <\/span>a <strong>living<\/strong> soul.<br \/>\n<strong>Man has no soul, man <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is<\/span> the soul.<\/strong><br \/>\nMan is created, in God\u2019s image, like God <strong>is<\/strong>. His name is <strong>I AM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Personality, character, conscience, will, feelings, desires and emotions belong to the soul, <strong>are<\/strong> the soul.<br \/>\n<strong>The soul is me. I am the soul.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is explained in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/topics\/under-the-magnifying-glass\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the study about the soul<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Man is a living soul.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The notion of \u2018life\u2019 in the Bible has the meaning of: being visible, having experience, having a relationship, or being able to form one.<br \/>\n<a title=\"Life and death (abridged)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/life-death-abridged-2\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Death and life<\/span> <\/a>have a spiritual dimension.<\/p>\n<p>The first man, Adam, became alive because his personality became visible and he was able to form a relationship in the visible and the invisible world.<br \/>\nMan, as a soul, received two \u2018instruments\u2019 to this end.<\/p>\n<p>The soul, man, is able to express itself in the visible world by means of the body.<br \/>\nThe soul, man, is able to express itself in the invisible world by means of the spirit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/7.-Ziel-wordt-levend.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-266\" alt=\"7. With this he is able to express himself in the visible world. He <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>has<\/strong> <\/span>a spirit, in order to express himself in the invisible world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Contact can be made, and a relationship formed, with another soul, another person, through the body\u2019s senses: sight, speech, hearing, feeling.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Contact can be made by the spirit, and a relationship can be formed, in the invisible world, with the triune God, the Creator of heaven and earth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Man is created for eternity.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Spirit and soul belong to the invisible world and are eternal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/6.-Geest-ziel-zonder-lichaam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-265\" alt=\"6. Geest ziel zonder lichaam\" src=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/6.-Geest-ziel-zonder-lichaam.jpg\" width=\"403\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/delevensschool.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/6.-Geest-ziel-zonder-lichaam.jpg 576w, https:\/\/delevensschool.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/6.-Geest-ziel-zonder-lichaam-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Adam was created as an eternal personality, just as God is eternal.<br \/>\nA person, a soul, is begotten, is born, for eternity and will exist eternally.<br \/>\nThe body belongs to the visible world and is temporary.<\/p>\n<p>Soul and spirit continue to exist when the body ceases functioning and once again returns to dust.<br \/>\nAs God is eternal, so man is also eternal and he lives on, even though the body has died.<\/p>\n<p>It is said that someone has \u2018died\u2019, is dead, because the body is no longer functioning.<br \/>\nThe person, the soul, is no longer able to make himself known via the body in the visible world.<br \/>\nThe person himself lives on in the invisible world.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Man as spirit, soul and body in relation to God<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Man became a living soul by the breath of life from God.<br \/>\nSoul and spirit are of divine origin.<br \/>\nMan is of divine origin in the depth of his existence, his \u2018being\u2019, his \u2018soul\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In the study <a title=\"God is light\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manual4life.org\/en\/god-light\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2018God is light\u2019<\/span><\/a> it is explained that God\u2019s character is of multicoloured intensity, the overtone of which is <strong>LOVE<\/strong>.<br \/>\nGod is love and His love was breathed into Adam simultaneously with the breath of life.<br \/>\n<strong>Adam was, man is, love in the depth of his being.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Love has no reason to exist in itself, however.<br \/>\nLove can only exist if it is able to be shared in a relationship with someone else.<br \/>\nThis is the reason why God created Adam.
